About
Connor Mumford is an HCPC-registered orthotist (PO04460) and member of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists, with 10 years of clinical experience in complex adult and paediatric orthotic management. He trained at the University of Salford, where he completed his BSc. Until the end of 2026 he is Head of the Cambridge Clinic at the London Orthotic Consultancy, where he is also the national lead for pectus services.
His clinical practice centres on the orthotic management of patients after severe and high-energy injury. He has particular expertise in multi-level trauma, where a single claimant may need several orthoses working together across the spine, upper limb and lower limb. This involves specifying, staging and adapting those devices as recovery progresses and needs change. He is experienced in the full range of ankle-foot and knee-ankle-foot orthoses, powered orthoses, spinal and scoliosis bracing, and gait analysis. He also manages adults after stroke and traumatic brain injury.
Connor has extensive experience in treating children and adults with cerebral palsy. This work began in paediatric orthotics at Alder Hey Children's Hospital and has continued throughout his career. He manages patients across the full range of presentations and severity, from early childhood through growth and into adulthood, giving him a detailed understanding of how orthotic needs in cerebral palsy change as patients grow, through surgical intervention, and over a lifetime.
Connor works frequently alongside therapists at NAPA and Able2B, contributing orthotic input to intensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation programmes. This gives him close, day-to-day insight into how orthotic provision supports therapy goals over the longer term.
In his medico-legal practice, Connor prepares reports on a claimant's current and future orthotic needs and their costs, for use in personal injury and clinical negligence claims. His reports set out device specification and clinical rationale, replacement intervals, repairs, bespoke footwear and review appointments, and explain how those needs are likely to change over the claimant's lifetime.
Connor has completed Bond Solon's Expert Witness Certificate and Courtroom Skills training. His reports are prepared in accordance with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and its accompanying Practice Direction, and he accepts instructions from claimants, defendants and jointly.
Outside work, Connor is an active member of his local rowing club and enjoys being part of its community.
